Showing religious devotion and referring to Islam, its scriptural sources and even the prophetic model itself count in post-secular society as radical, at best as irritating. The paper critically examines German research on young Muslims and compares the dominant representations in the scientific literature with self-perceptions by this group. It is asked what role the Prophet Muhammad plays in their lives and daily practices and how their religious frames of reference are formed. The assumed dominance of this religious frame for everyday life will be questioned. Account Options Sign in.
